I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1981 and my Master of Social Work degree in 1986, both from the University of Calgary.  My graduate work included a practicum in family therapy with the Alberta Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Commission and a comprehensive program evaluation of Simon House Recovery Centre for alcoholic men in Calgary.

Between 1981 and 1988:  I first gained experience as a front line medical social worker in Calgary;  I then managed an alcohol abuse prevention program for Canadian Armed Forces personnel in Lahr, Germany; and later moved into the position of Director of Social Work at the Oromocto Public Hospital in New Brunswick.  Upon returning to Calgary in 1988 I worked as a socio-legal researcher with the Canadian Research Institute for Law and the Family.

Since 1993 I have been in private practice providing counselling and conflict resolution services to individuals, couples, families and groups in Calgary.  My practice is client centered with a systems approach to family work. My mediation model is interest based and I use several different counselling models of practice, depending on the client's needs.  These include: solution focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, emotionally focused therapy, motivational interviewing, systemic family therapy, psychoeducation and the Gottman couples therapy approach. My areas of interest include relationship coaching, relocation assessment and counselling, spiritual and mental health, addiction and conflict resolution.
