Frequently Asked Questions
How should I choose a counsellor or mediator?
To find a good fit between
your needs and the counselor's or mediator's expertise and interpersonal style, ask yourself the following questions:
- Is the service provider registered with a professional organization?
- Do they have
experience in the area(s) with which you need help?
- Do they address the issues in a way
that makes sense to you?
- Do you feel comfortable and open with them?
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment with me by telephone at (403) 217-5552 or by email at donna@phillipscounselling.com .
Please indicate if discretion is required when I return your call, and in what way you'd like
me to be discreet (e.g., "please don't leave a message.")
What
will our first meeting be like?
You may not be sure what to expect at the first meeting.
It may feel awkward talking to a stranger. This typically does not last for long and I will do my best to make
you feel completely at ease within the first few minutes. Clients typically provide feedback indicating they quickly feel
comfortable working with me.
Each counselling session lasts approximately 50 minutes. The number
of sessions varies and is determined by you. Mediation sessions may last longer.
What are your fees?
Fees are reasonably set at $160 per hour. Because my overhead
is low I'm able to pass this savings on to my clients.
What if my partner is refusing to attend
therapy?
Often people will choose to attend an individual session. Although
we cannot expect to "change" another person, we can develop strategies and change how we relate to them.
Where
are you located?
My office is in the Calgary neighborhood of Killarney, on the 2nd floor of the
Casel building at 2505 17th Ave SW. There's free street parking around the building and a low cost parkade underneath
the building.
